kitchen cleaning

At Home Sorted! we can never have enough kitchen cleaning tips.

We’d actually love to have a brand new kitchen everyday. But realistically speaking: a clean kitchen is as good as new!

Here our our top kitchen cleaning tips.

1. Ask the kids to lend a hand

Getting everyone in the family to help with cleaning the kitchen makes for light work. No matter the cleaning technique we provide, it will still be easier with more than one set of hands.

2. Clean the oven with baking soda and water

Mix together ¾ cup of baking soda and ¼ cup of warm water into a paste. Remove the racks and apply the paste throughout the oven with a paintbrush avoiding the door. Leave to dry overnight. Remove the paste with a plastic scraper – wetting as required. Finally wipe with a damp cloth and enjoy your freshly cleaned oven.

3. Reduce smells by changing the garbage bin

It’s easy to put this task to the side. It’s also easy for smells to intensify. At least change the garbage bin every second day to reduce potential odours. If you have a large amount of food scraps, consider changing it every evening.

4. Clean the blender as soon as you use it

After you pour your smoothie (or other wonderful creation) from the blender, fill it straight up with a litre of water and few drops of dishwashing liquid. Set it to blend for 20 seconds then rinse with fresh water.

This method is super quick and super efficient.

5. Deodorise your microwave

To remove unpleasant smells from your microwave, combine 1 cup of water with ½ cup of lemon juice in a microwave proof cup or bowl. Heat for 3 – 5 minutes and then leave to sit for 5-10 more minutes before removing.

6. Save your coffee cups from staining with vinegar and salt

Remove pesky coffee stains from your cups and mugs by rubbing the offending area with equal parts vinegar and salt.

7. Be prepared for mess

A large part of keeping your kitchen clean is being prepared. Always have spare paper towels, dish cloths, garbage bags and dishwashing detergent on hand. There is nothing worse than being ill prepared when mess strikes!

We hope you enjoyed our easy kitchen cleaning tips and will forever have a sparkling kitchen to come home to.
