Do you have a laundry routine?

You wake up Saturday morning and enjoy a cup of coffee before setting foot inside your laundry. With three children and two adults in your home you are met with overflowing laundry baskets and an assortment of soiled items spread across the floor.

You immediately regret leaving the washing for the weekend. It’s going to be a Saturday and Sunday job with the mountain of clothes you need to get through.

Does this sound familiar?

What would you say if we told you that a laundry routine would solve all your worries? You’d feel great at home and never have to stress about how many loads of laundry are awaiting you again.

That’s right – a laundry routine can do all this. Now, let us tell you how.

Create a laundry system

All good laundry routines begin with a laundry system. This means ensuring you have an organised space to work within.

We recommend utilising three washing baskets – one for whites, darks and colours – in order to simplify your washing. It’s also important to create good habits around washing and ironing. These will be key to saving you time and allowing you to feel great at home.

You may choose to place responsibility on each family member. This can be making sure they place all dirty clothes in the appropriate washing basket each day – or risk missing the wash! Your laundry system will be one that works best for you and compliments a solid laundry routine.

Wash daily

Your laundry routine starts with a commitment to wash daily. This will reduce the overall time that you need to spend doing laundry and is as simple as popping a load on when you get up in the morning or as you prepare dinner.

Before long it will become a habit. You’ll enjoy weekends at home without feeling like you’re chained to the washing machine. You’ll never have to worry if your favourite outfit is in the wash or not. You’ll glide through each day feeling calm.

Iron daily

Along with washing comes daily ironing. You may be thinking, do I really have to iron every day? The answer is yes. Imagine how much less stress your ironing basket will hold when ironing only takes 10-15 minutes at a time.

Enjoy your new laundry routine

Laundry routines can be time saving and life changing. As we said at the beginning, they’re also key to removing worry from your day.

Now we’re throwing the action over to you. Take a moment to imagine…
