Create memories that last a lifetime!

Take a moment to think about Christmas… What is the first thing that comes to mind?

For some, it will be gifts they received, food they ate and parties they attended. Whereas for others, it will be time spent with loved ones and memories created together.

We’re here to tell you that Christmas doesn’t need all the bells and whistles to be magical. In fact, there are so many ways to create memories during the festive season we just had to share a few.

Look beyond Christmas Day

When creating Christmas memories, it’s important to look beyond Christmas Day itself. There are so many opportunities in the lead up to Christmas to gather friends and family and truly begin creating festive memories.

This could include dinners together, Christmas photos with Santa Claus, attending a religious service or setting up treats for Santa Claus and his reindeer on Christmas Eve.

You never know, you may even start a new Christmas tradition.

Start a Christmas tradition

Christmas traditions are a great way to get your family into the festive spirit, show appreciation for how the holiday began, and what it means to you. They’re also perfect for creating Christmas memories!

A common Christmas tradition is decorating your Christmas tree on December 1st. However, you can put your own spin on this tradition by listening to carols or drinking hot chocolate as you decorate. The point to be made is that traditions can be whatever you want them to be. The only requirement is that they are special to your family and help create magical memories.

Some suggestions include:

Baking Christmas cookies

A fun way to create Christmas memories is baking! Christmas cookies are always a crowd pleaser and can be adapted to suit any taste or dietary needs. If you’re feeling more adventurous you may choose to build your own gingerbread house or share Christmas recipes from your childhood with your children. Just remember to enjoy the process and a cookie or two in the aftermath.

Indulging in Christmas movies

Is it even December without Christmas movies? Celebrate the holiday season by watching family-favourite Christmas movies. You can make it a night to remember by wearing pyjamas and indulging in Christmas themed movie-snacks. You may even choose to watch a movie each week or night in the lead up to Christmas Day.

Attending Carols by Candlelight

Another great way to create memories is attending Christmas events in your local area or capital city. Some suggestions include Carols by Candlelight, Christmas light displays or iconic events such as the Myer Christmas windows.

These allow you a chance to bond with your family and friends and enjoy an experience together.

It’s that simple! Creating Christmas memories should never be a stressful process. Remember to focus on who you’re spending time with and the memories will follow!
