When it comes to running a business, it pays to consider your health and wellbeing in everything that you do. If you’re not functioning at 100% as a person – your business, unfortunately, will suffer.
With this in mind, we’ve created this handy guide to encourage you to check in on your health and wellbeing every once in a while.
Slow down
If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed with your to do list, looking towards tomorrow instead of focusing on today and feeling a sense of dread – it could be time to slow down.
We recommend starting each day with 10 to 20 minutes of mindfulness or meditation. This will allow you to centre your mind and to narrow in on what is most important for the day ahead. Most people note improvements in their personal life too – so give it a shot.
Manage overthinking
One of the easiest ways to create stress and nuke productivity is by overthinking. Next time you catch yourself overthinking a situation (or procrastinating as the two often go hand in hand) ask yourself what the core issue is that you’re worried about.
When we overthink, we have a tendency to blow situations out of proportion by creating excess tasks and worry. This step will allow you to get to the root of the problem and generally feel in better control.
Show gratitude
When it comes to health and wellbeing, sometimes all we need is a shift in perspective. Instead of worrying about what you don’t have or what you can’t achieve in any given week – take a moment to show gratitude to what you do have and can achieve.
We recommend writing a short gratitude list at the start of end of each day. This can be as simple as three to five dot points that outline what you are thankful for. Some examples may include, family that support your business goals, enough money to put food on the table, or the freedom to be present at your kids sporting games.
The list is endless and 100% unique to you.
Reach out
Finally, if you feel your health and wellbeing slipping due to your business – remember that you can always reach out for support. Talking to your business mentor, a close friend or a professional can help you reframe your perspective and work through anything that may be holding you back.
