Use a DIY all-purpose cleaner
One of our favourite ways to streamline the cleaning process is by using a DIY all-purpose cleaner. Simply mix four tablespoons of baking soda with one litre of water and dispense into a spray bottle as required.
This type of cleaner can be used on almost all surfaces within the home. But it’s particularly great for stubborn grime on bathroom tiles and kitchen benches.
Clean glass with household favourites
Another handy cleaning tip is to create your own class cleaner. Grab a fresh spray bottle and fill it with 50% white vinegar and 50% tap water.
Simply spray onto any glass or mirrored surfaces within the home and wipe clean. Glass specific microfibre cloths will help ensure your surface remains streak free too.
Remove kitchen stains with a lemon
How many chopping boards in your kitchen are covered in stains? Too many – sounds like our kitchen before we discovered this simple trick. Cut a lemon in half and run the cut side over the chopping board to remove food stains and smells.
It’s so simple we’re kicking ourselves for not thinking of it sooner.
Degrease cabinets the easy way
Does cooking get your kitchen cabinets nice and grimy too? We’ve found that adding some dishwashing liquid to a spray water with warm water is a fantastic way to wipe away the grease. Simply wipe away with a fresh cloth afterwards and they’ll look as good as new!
Do a little bit everyday
Finally, our favourite and most-effective cleaning tip is to ensure you stay on top of the mess by doing a little bit every day.
Set yourself a time limit of 20 or 30 minutes each day and aim to tackle one room, or cleaning task. This will allow you to look at cleaning with a positive mantra knowing it won’t take all afternoon and that you’ll be back in front of Netflix or playing with your kids in no time!
