It’s easy to let your laundry get disorganised and filled with clutter. From piles of clothes to detergents there are a lot of items to count for.
For this reason, we’ve compiled the following list of tried and testes ways to organise your laundry. Follow these to get sorted once and for all.
Organise your laundry baskets
One of the easiest and most tested ways to organise your laundry is to implement the three basket system – one for whites, colours and darks.
What this means is that you’re able to quickly do a load of whites or colours without having to spend time sorting your laundry first.
We also recommend labelling the baskets for each use to ensure your entire family knows what belongs where.
Sort your clothes as you put them in the laundry
Once you have the three basket system in place, it’s a great idea to get your family into the habit of sorting their clothes as they get undressed. This means putting their whites in the correct basket and so on and so forth.
It may take a little trial and error to begin with, but it’s worth it in the end for the time saved alone!
Create extra bench space
Next up is your bench space! Everyone can use a bit more in the laundry which is why we advocate installing shelves or cupboards above.
These can be used to store detergents, cleaning clothes, lint rollers, pegs and any other item you store in the laundry. You can also choose to hang your ironing board on hooks to save floor space.
Store detergents in jars
While we’re on the topic of storage, we love switching detergents and powders into glass jars to make the laundry room look more appealing.
Hang clothes immediately after drying
If you’re someone who hates ironing – let’s be real, we all hate ironing – get into the habit of hanging your clothes immediately after drying. This will help creases drop out of some items, so they no longer need to be ironed and prevent further creases from forming on the ones that do.
